Henry Onyekuru came off the bench to bag a brace in Galatasaray’s 3-0 Turkish Super Lig win over Kayserispor on Saturday.
Those strikes took his tally to five goals in seven starts and ten appearances altogether since his temporary switch to the Yellow-Reds in January.
According to Sportyleagues, the winger was not included in Nigeria’s 24-man squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic later this month.
Onyekuru was, though named in the stand-by list which suggests Gernot Rohr does have him in his thoughts.
It took the former Everton man only thirteen minutes after coming off the bench to make an impact against Kayserispor.
He doubled Galatasaray’s lead with a simple left-footed finish in the 80th minute after a shot from goalscorer Radamel Falcao had come off the woodwork.
Onyekuru wasn’t done yet as he netted again eight minutes later by calmly slotting home after being played through by Sofiane Feghouli.
The crucial away victory took Galatasaray to two points within leaders Besiktas who have a game in hand.
